If you are looking for an authentic piece of 1960s vintage mojo that won’t break the bank, this 1965 Melody Maker D is incredibly cool. The "D" stands for double pickup, meaning you get a pair of the original factory single coils rather than just the single bridge pickup found on the base models. It is finished in a translucent nitrocellulose Cherry Red that beautifully showcases the grain of its lightweight, slab mahogany body.

The mahogany neck features a comfortable, rounded medium C profile paired with a genuine rosewood fingerboard. Players love these mid 60s Gibson builds because they are extraordinarily resonant and acoustic sounding even when unplugged. Under the hood, those unique, narrow single coil pickups give you a bright, clear chime across all three pickup positions that drives a tube amp into a sweet, raw vintage crunch. It is a fantastic, lightweight golden era workhorse with tons of character, complete with an original 1960s Gibson brown chipboard case.
